About the lesson

My Teaching Approach:
As a tutor, my goal is to help students not only understand Maths but also to study it strategically. I believe in building a strong foundation through a deep understanding of core concepts — not just memorizing formulas. But I also guide students on how to study smart, especially when preparing for exams.

I focus on:
- Identifying exactly what to study based on the syllabus and common question patterns
- Using past papers effectively — selecting the right ones, applying time limits, and reviewing them with exam-focused techniques
- Teaching the correct approach to different question types, helping students recognise patterns and avoid common traps
- Pinpointing exactly where students tend to lose marks, and making sure they understand how to avoid those mistakes in the future
- Breaking down complex problems into manageable steps, so students feel confident and in control

Every student is different, so I tailor each lesson to their pace, strengths, and goals — whether they’re aiming to pass or to score an A*.

Teaching Methods & Techniques:
My teaching style is all about making Maths clear, engaging, and confidence-boosting.

Whether a student loves Maths or finds it intimidating, I break down each topic into digestible chunks using simple language, visual aids, and relatable examples. I aim to make students feel like Maths is something they can master — not something to fear.

Here’s how I do it:

Targeted Practice: I use worksheets and past papers to focus on both weak areas and exam-frequent topics, so students spend time where it matters most.
Deep Concept Clarity: Every formula, method, and technique is explained in a way that answers “why it works”, not just “how to do it.”
Repetition That Works: I use active recall and spaced repetition to help students retain knowledge long-term.
Error Analysis: We don’t just correct wrong answers — we analyze them, so students understand why they made the mistake and how to never repeat it.
All-Level Question Practice: I guide students through basic to advanced questions, so they feel familiar and confident tackling every variation they might see in the exam.

My sessions are interactive and student-led — I encourage questions, discussions, and even occasional “mini quizzes” to keep things dynamic and effective.

Typical Lesson Plan:
1) Quick recap of previous topics (5 minutes) — to reinforce what we’ve learned and clear any doubts
2) Introduction to the new topic with simple, relatable examples (10–15 minutes)
3) Deep dive into core concepts and step-by-step problem solving (20 minutes)
4) Guided practice — working through problems together with explanations (15 minutes)
5) Final review with past paper questions at different difficulty levels to ensure complete understanding and confidence — leaving no gaps in knowledge

After each session, I provide:
- Additional past paper questions as homework so students can practice independently and strengthen their skills
- Concise class notes summarising key points and methods from the lesson — this saves students time, so they don’t have to write while learning and can focus fully on understanding during the session

This approach ensures that students have a clear, organized path to mastery and can steadily improve both in lessons and on their own.
