About Karthik
I am Karthik Pyneni, a biology student at Stony Brook University with a strong background in science and mathematics and several years of tutoring experience. In the past I have been a lead instructor for NSF Tutoring, where I have taught more than 80 students advanced math concepts and guided a team of tutors to help students strengthen their problem-solving skills and confidence in STEM subjects. My academic and research experiences, including work in biomedical labs and data analysis, allow me to explain complex scientific and mathematical ideas in a clear and practical way. I focus on helping students truly understand the material rather than memorize it, and I tailor each session to the student’s learning style so they can improve their grades, prepare for exams, and build long-term academic confidence. My hobbies on the side are playing tennis, running, and watching sports.

My lessons are very methodical with practice material that I go over during the sessions as well as practice material that I assign outside of sessions. What sets me apart as a tutor is the fact that outside of sessions I will also work to continue helping students grow my finding or thinking of innovative practice material that they can use or new techniques that I can use during the sessions to be more efficient and effective.
