About Thomas
I am a Melbourne-based Maths and Physics tutor with a strong International Baccalaureate background. My main specialties are Mathematics and Physics, where I help students build clearer conceptual understanding, stronger problem-solving skills, and better exam preparation techniques.
In Maths, I can support students with algebra, functions, calculus, trigonometry, statistics, and general problem-solving. In Physics, I can help with mechanics, electricity, waves, energy, experimental skills, and formula application.
My lessons are especially suitable for Year 7–10 students and students preparing for senior-level study. I explain concepts step by step, identify where students are struggling, and use targeted practice to improve confidence and accuracy.
I can also provide English/EAL essay feedback, Chinese support, general Science support, and study skills guidance if needed.

My lessons are structured around clear understanding, active problem-solving, and targeted feedback. I usually begin by identifying the student’s current level, common mistakes, and the specific topics they find difficult. From there, I explain each concept step by step, using simple examples first before moving into exam-style or more challenging questions. For Maths and Physics, I focus strongly on the logic behind each method, so students understand why a formula or technique works rather than just memorising steps. During the lesson, I encourage students to attempt questions independently, then we go through their thinking process together to correct errors and build stronger problem-solving habits. For writing or EAL support, I focus on improving grammar, sentence clarity, paragraph structure, and the student’s own ability to revise their work. My aim is to make each lesson practical, interactive, and confidence-building, so students leave with a clearer understanding of the topic and a method they can apply on their own.
