About Saffron
Hi, I’m Saff! I’m currently at Manchester Metropolitan University studying International Business Management, and alongside that I run my own social media company where I create content and strategies for different brands. Balancing uni and running a business has definitely made me organised and good at explaining things clearly; which comes in handy when tutoring. Maths has always been one of my strongest subjects. I got a Grade 9 in GCSE Maths, and I know how much difference it makes to have someone explain tricky topics in a way that actually makes sense. I like to break things down step by step and show different ways of approaching problems until it clicks. I teach students who are preparing for the 11+ or 13+ exams, as well as anyone at KS2 or KS3 who wants to feel more confident in maths. My lessons are friendly and supportive, there is no pressure, just building skills at a pace that works for you. I really enjoy seeing students go from “I can’t do this” to “I actually get it now,” because I know how big a confidence boost that is. At the end of the day, my goal is simple: to help you feel more confident in maths and ready for whatever exam or challenge is coming up.

How I Teach: When I tutor, my main focus is making sure the student actually understands maths, not just memorises steps. I break tricky ideas into smaller chunks and explain them clearly, using examples and practice questions until it clicks. I like to keep things interactive, encouraging students to talk me through their reasoning so we can spot gaps together. I also build in exam-style questions and timed practice, so they feel prepared and confident when it really matters. Games and little "tricks" is something I have always found helpful whilst working with younger students. Lesson Style: Most of my lessons are about an hour long, enough time to cover topics properly without it feeling overwhelming. I can also do shorter 45-minute sessions or longer 90-minute ones if that works better for the student. My Background: I’ve got a strong maths background achieving a 9 at GCSE and going on to do maths within my degree, and I’ve worked with students aged 7–14. I’ve seen students go from doubting themselves to actually enjoying the subject, which is the best part of the job. My sister has also always struggled with maths and I have helped her along the way, whilst making sure that she feels comfortable and ensuring things are interactive for her when she loses concentration.
