About Emma
Hi there! I'm Emma, and I'm currently a high school student at Queensland Academies Creative Industries. I'd love to be able to help you or your child reach their academic goals to strive for success!
I have consistently achieved an academic excellence award all throughout high school (including previously, at Brisbane State High School). This year, I was also awarded my school's Year 10 subject awards for Mandarin and Psychology.
Additionally, I participate in multiple extracurriculars that I am willing to offer guidance in, such as debating and violin. I've been debating for 5 years and playing violin for 10 - this year, I was the 2nd violin leader of Queensland Youth Orchestra 2.

My personal approach to tutoring involves understanding my students' goals and learning styles, so that I can adapt my planning and lesson style to suit each student. Whether it's simple homework help or learning to understand topics in class and outside of class more deeply, I'm willing to try my best and help every way I can!
When it comes to subjects such as maths or science, I compile a visually engaging infographic with key concepts to foster understanding, then provide practise examples for my students. I am familiar with different methods of studying, such as "retrieval practise", and I try to incorporate these into my teaching.
In subjects that involve abstract thinking or language skills, such as English, I encourage students to apply their personal understanding of different topics as well as understand different requirements (such as criteria for a school writing task) that their work should showcase.
I have tutored English (ESL - English as a second language) online for three months, and I'm currently starting the IB Diploma (graduating 2023) at Queensland Academies Creative Industries.
I am flexible with each lesson time, however, I would suggest 30 minutes to an hour depending on the age of my student.
