About Emma
Hi everyone,
My name is Emma and am 19yrs old. I was born and raised in the Wellington region and am now living down here in Dunedin for study since 2022. I am taking a gap year from Health Science study at Otago University but I have goals to continue my study again in the following year.
I would consider myself a very sociable person, while I enjoy my alone time I also have good fun meeting new people and hanging out with friends. I am very active, I play sports such as Hockey and Indoor Bowls and have also played Cricket, Volleyball and Badminton throughout my years at college. My hobbies include lots and lots of arts and crafts.
I am LQBTQ friendly, being part of the community myself.
Thank you for your consideration in me as a tutor (:

My tutoring style would consist of both creative and very traditional ways of studying. While in college I enjoyed writing up lengths of notes on pen and paper and then copying them into more creative pieces like drawings and posters. I have lots of experience in aiding my brother in his NCEA studies. He has autism so we would make sure to incorporate lots of creative methods to reinforce the knowledge. In explaining things to him I would use toys and drawings which helped a lot.
Another aspect I found very important in my own studies and what I would like to incorporate into my tutoring would be a very calm environment. While studying I would always have a drink in hand and some quite music playing to create a more calm environment. If a student I was tutoring would want to listen to music or change their environment in anyway I would be then happy with it so long as we can still actively study. I would much prefer to teach in person rather then online but either way suits.
I am comfortable teaching students in NCEA doing sciences, maths, food and nutrition and/or psychology. LQBTQ+ and Neurodivergent friendly and experienced.
