My teaching method is to allow the student to discover solutions on their own, perhaps giving hints rather than giving an answer. There are times, though, when an answer is necessary, but it is important - perhaps more important than learning any programming language - to learn problem-solving skills and to think creatively for a solution to any one problem. This way the coder can devise multiple solutions to a problem, and choose the most appropriate one for the situation.
I worked my way through school, earning an associates in computer programming. I worked full-time for a year after gaining the degree, and I now attend the programming school 42 in Fremont, CA. I've studied data structures, OOP (object-oriented programming), sorting algorithms, recursion, and many other programming strategies.
