About Mike
I toured and recorded full-time as a bassist/composer for almost 30 years and have been working as a recording engineer for the past 10 or so. I've worked with Pop, Rock, Country, Electronica, and Traditional East Coast Celtic music, but my main focus has been the blending of traditional guitar rock and cutting-edge electronic music. Since the 1990s, my band has been recognized as a pioneer of this genre, which eventually led to what we hear in most contemporary pop/rock and even country today. I've been lucky enough to have played 100's of clubs and dozens of festivals throughout Canada, the US, and occasionally overseas. My band did quite well as a Canadian Indie group, but after decades on the road, we've slowed down considerably, and my main gig these days is recording/teaching. I run a studio/home for musicians and music students in Eastern Canada, where I rent rooms, and provide an industry-grade recording setup to folks who might not usually have access to this type of equipment. We have a large collection of professional grade microphones and preamps. I have extensive experience capturing audio and can talk about it all day. During my time with the band, we recorded in some of the better places throughout Canada, where I was able to learn a lot about recording from many talented engineers... my job now is to pass that knowledge on and help the folks who live here with their projects and careers. With that, I spend a lot of time educating, and I love it. If you have a passion to strive for top-tier results, and a desire to become an independent, 360° music creator, then you are my people and we should chat. I'd love to help you get there.
