About Carlo
I attended the Berklee College of Music in the 70s. At this time, the music scene in Boston was electric. Not only with the # number of venues, but also the # of musicians that played at them and hung out at them. While studying during the day and playing in several bands at night, I was lucky enough to play in bands that opened for The Cars, The Police, and The Talking Heads. In 1976, I moved to NYC, and was afforded the opportunity to play both guitar and drums at such venues as, Max's Kansas City, CBGB's, Great Gildersleeves, The Mudd Club and several others. Finally in 1980, all of this resulted in a Demo deal with Elektra Records. Next up at this time, was the transition from the friendly confines of being an artist, to now dealing with record companies, lawyers, publishing...etc.

My personal playing style is Hard Rock and Blues. My teaching methods are personalized and built around 3 things: 1) Everyone has different (tastes, needs, goals) performer? hobbyist? 2) That said, I like to create a curriculum centered around the individual's tastes and interests while focusing on keeping the student not just interested but enthusiastic and eager to learn and grow as a musician. An example of this would be, several times when I was learning the guitar, I would be passionate about how a certain player was doing something. Unfortunately, many times (especially with beginners) the instructor's response would be, "Well you"re not at the level yet". While this may be true certain times, I prefer to focus on the student's desire and enthusiasm to attain the skill set needed and center the lesson around specific exercises and techniques that will facilitate the student reaching that goal. While the student's level will naturally be relevant, I believe the importance of maintaining the student's enthusiasm and passion outweighs this. 3) Many intermediate students, rather than studying various techniques, would rather focus on songwriting, recording techniques, forming a band, learning to play with others, contact info for like-minded players.....
