About Joel
Meet Your Instructor: Joel Atella (Mr. Joel) My teaching is grounded in world-class training and professional experience in the music industry. Local Connection: I am a proud Fort Collins native and graduate of Rocky Mountain High School. Conservatory Education: I hold a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the prestigious Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY. Broad Professional Experience: I worked for over a decade as a Stage Manager and Assistant Director at companies including the San Diego Opera, Santa Fe Opera, and Indianapolis Symphony, and I’ve tour-managed for the incomparable violinist, Itzhak Perlman. Active Local Professional: I am currently the Pianist for Choirs at Fossil Ridge High School and the Assistant Collaborative Pianist for the Larimer Chorale, in addition to singing 1st Tenor in the ensemble.

Welcome to the Poudre Armonia Music Studio! I am excited to begin lessons and start building a foundation of musical skills, technical singing, and confidence with my students. Teaching Philosophy: Progress, Not Perfection At Poudre Armonia, the primary focus is on creating a supportive environment that fosters the development of healthy singing, proper breath support, and an accurate body map. A core studio philosophy is: "It's OK for me to be a work in progress." Another focus is empowering students to explore their instrument and to view all sounds as valuable information that leads to growth. Mr. Joel teaches not just how to sing and read music, but how to prepare for a career as a professional musician.
