About Emma
Hi! My name is Emma and I am 22. I'm about to start my final year studying Geography with Quantitative Methods BA at the University of Leeds. I have been tutoring for 3 years and have a breadth of resources and passion which I bring to my lessons!
I believe that if you like the subject you are learning then you are by far more likely to achieve success and I wish to help people enjoy what they are studying. I aim to do this by discussing simple methods in Maths to help understanding. I have a lot of patience and and clearly explain key concepts and methods. I hope to improve students confidence in their chosen subjects and to help them with fundamental skills to progress their own learning.
At A level, I achieved AAA in Geography, Maths and Classical Civilisation. I also achieved a C in AS Further Mathematics. Within my geography degree we use statistical analysis which relies on a strong numerical mindset. Hence, the skills I am learning in my degree can be applied to tutoring Maths.

I will structure each lesson by personalising it to the students needs. I will start by introducing an exam question relevant to the topic and allow the student to attempt the question. After the brief discussion i will go into detail about the topic and each process, simplifying it so the key basics can be remembered. I will continue to ensure that the student understands what I am teaching. If the student has alternative methods of learning I will accommodate to their needs in order to maximise full learning potential.
I am familiarised with different exam boards and I will direct students to reliable resources for them to use as and when they wish. I can provide guidance on some of the best methods to approach an exam without feeling overwhelmed or underprepared.
I will measure progress by the use of exam questions and I will also ask the students how confident they are feeling on various topics and focus on their weakest ones. It is also important to me that students have their own goals which they would like to achieve through my tutoring. I will help to ensure that these targets are met.
My lessons are 60 minutes and I target students from KS3 to GCSE. I have three years of tutoring maths online and I regularly use maths in my degree. I have an obtained DBS check to tutor in schools.
