About Youssef

Hi, My name is Youssef and I am an aspiring medical student. I have a deep interest in scientific subjects because there are so many interesting aspects of my subjects, I love the general problem-solving techniques it provides you with - a lot of our lives revolve around using the information we already have to draw new conclusions and find other pieces of useful information, which is exactly what maths is. This idea is what forms the backbone of my lessons. I believe that in order to have a good knowledge of maths, you need a good foundation, which is why I aim to structure my lessons so that knowledge is retained, rather than forgotten about when left unused for a few weeks.

About the lesson

To help my students reach their goals, I will tailor my lessons to their needs. By communicating with them and understanding their strengths and weaknesses, I will create lesson plans targeting topics that my students most struggle with. I will ensure that I help students with their biggest struggles, whether that is factual retention, application of information or exam technique. After each lesson, I will discuss with my student how they feel about what we have been working on and will be ready to alter lesson plans according to their progression. I will do tests after each topic is covered to ensure my student is able to apply what they have learnt and to provide encouragement towards their progress. My tutoring methods are entirely suited towards each individual student as I wish to help all of them to reach their best potential. Depending on student preference, students can also send me any specific questions that they have prior to the lesson, which I will then prepare solutions for us to work through in the lesson, in addition to any questions that they may ask during the lesson. At the end of each session, I spend a few minutes chatting with the student about their progress during the lesson and discuss topics that we will cover in future lessons. Every few lessons, I'll direct the student to some optional exam questions that I can mark, which can be used for both of us to see how they are progressing.
