About Nicole

Hello! My name is Nicole Cleary, and I have been a Math and Science teacher in Oceanside, NY for 24 years. Throughout my career, I have worked with a wide range of learners and understand that every student has unique strengths and challenges. My goal as a tutor is to help students build confidence, strengthen their academic skills, and develop strategies that will support them both in and out of the classroom.

I specialize in tutoring students in grades K–6 in math, science, homework support, and test preparation. In addition, I provide executive functioning support, helping students improve their time management, organization, study habits, and homework routines. These skills are essential for long-term academic success.

With my years of classroom experience, I understand curriculum expectations and how to explain concepts in ways that are clear, supportive, and engaging. I strive to create a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and growing as learners.

About the lesson

My approach as a tutor is to create a supportive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and building confidence. With 24 years of experience teaching math and science in Oceanside, NY, I understand that every child learns differently. I focus on meeting students where they are and helping them truly understand concepts rather than simply memorizing procedures.

I use a combination of clear explanations, step-by-step problem solving, and real-world examples to make lessons engaging and meaningful. I also incorporate strategies that help students think independently and develop stronger problem-solving skills. When needed, I break concepts down into smaller, manageable parts so students can build mastery gradually.
