Focus on interactive teaching and engaging the students in fruitful discussions. The aim is to teach the students how to think and not to think for them! If a student is dependent on the teacher then the student has only taken in information or data and not skills or methodology. We want to pass on the skills required to deal with knowledge and not the knowledge itself! Linking knowledge and information with life and life experiences adds great context and deepens the understanding. Thankfully I have travelled a lot and have experience in multiple fields which not only has taught me many things but has added dimensions and layers to the knowledge I have acquired. You can have all the knowledge in the world but if that knowledge is disengaged from society and the world it is mere theory and pretty useless. We focus on teaching the practical aspects of knowledge which helps students learn and helps them keep that knowledge stored in their memories.
