About Ben

I have lots of experience working with children. I tutored elementary level kids at my local library for one year. I also worked at the Lawrence Hall of Science in Berkeley for two years. I facilitated science experiments with kids of all ages and helped them work their way through complex problem solving. At the library I worked one on one with younger students and guided them through their school year and helping them through math, reading, and writing homework. At the museum in Berkeley I saw different kids every day and learned how to teach and get along with all types of children.

About the lesson

I recently completed my first year as an undergraduate at UC Santa Barbara. I am pursuing a degree in Bio Chemistry and plan to attend medical school following graduation. I give lessons to children ranging from third grade to seniors in high school. I am confident teaching any level of math up to AP Calculus and Linear Algebra, as well as AP Chemistry; however, at lower age levels such as elementary school and middle school I can proficiently help a student with their entire range of homework!

If possible the student will tell me about their subject matter and academic goals in advance so I can work out a lesson plan that we can work through together. I believe the best way to teach is to give the student the tools to understand the material and gently guide them to the correct solution. I will prepare lots of practice problems and have worked out solutions so the student can see how problems are properly done.
