About Kelly
My proven techniques for students K to Grade 10 will encourage success in academics and in life. Summer is a perfect time to catch up or get ahead. Many students crammed for finals, and there were topics they needed more help on. In math, they DO NOT review concepts from the year before. It is important that your child knows last year's math very well. It is similar to language arts. They are expected to be at a certain level, and they just continue. Science and social are not as important. These concepts change from year to year, and are just introductions to high school. If they missed concepts from last year, it will not impact their upcoming year. The focus should be on math and la.
I started teaching on Zoom due to covid, in the past, I have always tutored in person, but this online tutoring is so successful, I have parents requesting it, after the covid crisis was over (or is it….LOL)
This program is totally interactive, which allows your child and I to share our screens with each other, write on each other's screens, use a whiteboard, and see each other through webcams. I also use an abundance of personal resources and textbooks. I utilize websites and numerous games to motivate and reinforce lessons. I also get the students to login 5 minutes ahead on their own and do a positive thinking activity to get them in a successful/”I can do anything” mindset before beginning. This is something new I started this year, and I have seen students AMAZE me. The power of mindset is so important.
All students are different, they learn in unique ways, and tutoring allows me to customize their learning needs. The key is finding just the right one for the 'light bulb' to go on in your child's head. I will keep trying until I am confident they fully understand the concept. I will never give up! I have found that step-by-step notes are very helpful to many students, however teachers do not give these out. I then found, without notes, the students really struggled. After making the notes, they could do ALL of the questions without a problem!
I believe in keeping current to the latest new information. I continue to keep up-to-date on what is happening in the schools and I am always aware of what new methods are being taught. (If you choose to continue during the year, I communicate with the schools/teachers/parents because I believe working as a team gives us ultimate success.
I look forward to discussing how I can make a difference in your child’s life, so they can succeed!!!
