About Cassandra

I am currently a Biochemistry student at the University of Toronto Scarborough with minors in Biology and Psychology, maintaining a strong academic standing in a rigorous science program. Alongside my studies, I have several years of teaching experience working with students from Kindergarten to Grade 8 as a Head Teaching Assistant at JEI Learning Center, where I teach math and English, assist with homework, and help students strengthen their understanding and confidence academically.

I am patient, professional, and highly adaptable to different learning styles. I understand that every student learns differently, so I focus on creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning from mistakes. Having balanced challenging university coursework with teaching responsibilities, I have developed strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills that I bring into every lesson.

About the lesson

I know firsthand how frustrating school can feel when a concept just does not click right away, especially in math and science. Because of that, my lessons are not just focused on getting the right answer, but on helping students understand why they are doing something so they can build confidence and think through problems on their own. I try to make lessons feel less intimidating and more like a conversation where students feel comfortable asking questions without worrying about sounding “wrong.”

Through my experience as a Head Teaching Assistant at JEI Learning Center, I have worked with many different types of students, from those who need extra patience and encouragement to students looking to get ahead academically. I adjust my teaching style depending on the student and focus on finding explanations, examples, or study methods that actually work for them personally.

I also like sharing the study habits and problem-solving techniques that helped me succeed in challenging university science courses. My goal is not only to help students improve marks, but to help them become more independent and confident learners over time.
