About Niva
For the past 8 years, I have been teaching piano to nearly 300 students, including high school learners, college students, and adults. Teaching piano allows me to combine technical instruction with mentorship, helping students develop skill, confidence, and a love for music.
My teaching philosophy emphasises discipline, consistent practice, and expressive performance. I focus on posture, hand coordination, finger control, scales, rhythm, sight-reading, and musical interpretation. I also encourage students to connect emotionally with their music to enhance their performances.
I design goal-oriented lesson plans and teach students how to practice efficiently at home. Many of my students have performed successfully in recitals, competitions, and school events, while others have earned high distinctions in graded music examinations.
My goal is to create a motivating and supportive learning environment where students feel inspired, confident, and capable of reaching their full potential as pianists.

My piano lessons are student-focused and built on communication, creativity, flexibility, and consistent improvement. I create a supportive environment where students feel motivated and comfortable learning from mistakes. I break challenging pieces into smaller, manageable sections and explain techniques patiently.
Communication ensures students clearly understand rhythm patterns, articulation, tempo, and musical structure. Creativity strengthens their connection to music through expressive interpretation and improvisation tasks. Flexibility allows me to adjust lesson content and speed based on student progress and goals.
I also help students build strong practice habits and realistic goal-setting strategies. Along with piano performance, I teach music reading, chord progressions, harmony, and ear training. My mission is to guide students towards becoming independent and confident pianists.
