About Lian
I am a passionate Saxophone tutor with 11 years of teaching experience, having successfully guided around 150 students at all levels. I enjoy helping students grow musically through structured practice and supportive guidance.
My teaching style is patient, structured, and goal-oriented. I begin with posture, breathing, tone, and finger technique, gradually progressing to rhythm exercises, scales, songs, and performance skills.
I provide regular feedback and guidance for home practice to ensure consistent improvement. Lessons are adapted to each student’s pace and learning style, helping them gain both confidence and technical skill.
My unique strength is my ability to combine structured teaching with personal encouragement, helping students develop technical ability and musical expression simultaneously.

My saxophone teaching methodology emphasises adaptability, collaboration, and positivity. I understand that each student learns differently, so I tailor lessons to their individual pace, goals, and learning style using demonstration, hands-on practice, and listening exercises.
Flexibility is central to my approach. Lessons evolve with student progress, motivation, and interests, ensuring learning remains engaging, effective, and enjoyable. Collaboration encourages students to actively participate, explore improvisation, and share creative ideas, building confidence and technical skill.
I maintain a positive and supportive environment where achievements are celebrated, and challenges are embraced as opportunities for growth. Lessons cover saxophone technique, improvisation, musical expression, performance preparation, and theory to provide a well-rounded foundation.
In addition to saxophone, I teach sight-reading, ensemble performance, ear training, and music theory. My aim is to nurture confident, expressive musicians with a lifelong passion for music.
