About Cerys
Hi! I’m Cerys and I’m a former Grammar School student from South West England.
KS3, KS4 and KS5 Chemistry and Maths lessons. Former Grammar School student. Achieved 3A*s in A-Level History, Maths and Chemistry. Achieved 10 9s at GCSE.
Through my time in education, I have always loved learning and imparting my knowledge onto others who share my appreciation as well as helping people to find this love.
I have always found fulfilment in seeing people learn and grow with my support. Some of my favourite moments from my school life come from hearing about the academic successes of others that I have helped to cause.
My passion for teaching has led to me volunteering large amounts of my time to go into lessons with younger children and provide direct support with their subjects.

During my lessons, I would get to know where the student is strong and weak, helping them to focus on recognising and improving their weaknesses while maintaining practice on their strengths.
Lessons would usually be between 30 and 60 minutes in length.
My teaching style includes starting with explaining the process of tackling one question and increasingly giving them more independence until they are in a position where they can complete the task by themselves.
For long-form, written responses, I, with support in areas where the student already has knowledge, explain the topic and then have them apply it in different situations with my assistance where necessary.
Each student would be exposed to a variety of difficulty in questions and they would be encouraged to present their own ideas to solve questions and sharpen their academic mind.
From my experience, the best checking of learning comes from practice tests done under test conditions so there will frequently be tests to check the student’s development.
Over the past three years, I have frequently supported younger students with Maths and the sciences (Chemistry, Physics and Biology) and am currently tutoring Year 7s to improve their maths skills.
Overall, my style is very hands on, providing constant support for students who need it, which is ideal for students who may lack confidence and have untapped potential.
