About Ruby
I am a singing teacher with 6 years of experience in vocal training. I hold a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance with a focus on Lieder and Art Song. This foundation supports strong technique and control. My specialty is vocal improvisation for jazz and blues. Improvisation is taught as a learnable skill. Scat singing is broken down into simple steps. Students gain confidence through guided practice. Melodic embellishment is explored through listening and repetition. I teach singers how to add color to melodies. Advanced harmony is introduced gradually. Theory is explained through sound. Ear training is an important part of my approach. Students learn to recognize chord movement. Scales and chord theory are applied directly to singing. Improvisation becomes musical, not mechanical.
