About Angela
I am a teacher who re-entered higher education in 2014 to study physics. I have passed the module required to teach physics at GCSE and A Level. My end of year results to date are all distinctions (1st equivalence) with the exception of one grade two pass (2:1 equivalence). I am confident teaching the natural science, as well as calculus, algebra, trigonometry, vectors, complex numbers and arithmetic.
For the past four years I have worked as a supply teacher, offering support in schools within the London and Surrey area.
I am a flexible, approachable individual with a good understanding of the benefits of formative assessment, and am practised in tailoring my teaching techniques to suit the needs of my students.

To get a general idea of my student's needs, I start by discussing their strengths and weaknesses before setting an initial assessment. Because physics is rooted in maths, if I notice that a learner is struggling with a particular mathematical skill, I will address this in the same way that I would tackle gaps in physics knowledge.
I like to set regular assessments, not only because it informs me about the rate at which a student is advancing, but also because it is crucial for learners to know how much they have progressed and the skills they need to continue to develop.
I make the most of technology whenever I can, so if a learner is struggling with a physics problem set for homework, I encourage them to Whatsapp me a photograph of the exercise and reply with a useful hint in order to get them started.
