About Harry
I’m a Swedish economics and political science graduate and I just recently moved to London. I tutor students math at A-level difficulty (and below) and Macroeconomics at undergraduate level (and below). All students I have worked have been pleased with me personally and received the grades that they have hoped for. Beyond my pure tutoring work I have extensive experience of working with young people in different educational capacities; I have worked with developing teaching plans for children with special needs, worked with a leadership training programs at a summer camp and have been a piano teacher for several students.

My teaching style is focused on building motivation and self confidence in the student. Motivation and self confidence is important because the students that are most successful with their studies does a lot of the learning on their own, therefore it is essential for the tutor to inspire the student to take what they learned in tutoring session and apply it to their every-day life. For the student to want to do this, they need to think the subject is genuinely interesting; they need to see the “beauty” of the subject and also believe they themselves have the ability to apply what they learnt.
As a tutor my ability to be flexible is crucial. All individuals learn in different ways and when you start out with a new student it might be hard to predict how to best explain a certain concept to a particular student. That is way it is important to, as a tutor, on the spot be able to change lesson plans, come up with new examples, metaphors and exercises if need be.
Perhaps even more important than my teaching philosophy is my passion for learning and teaching; I know almost no better feeling than when a student I’m working with finally “gets it”. Seeing a young person grow and helping them achieve their goals is something I find deeply fulfilling.
