About Kolam
I am a passionate piano tutor with over 11 years of experience teaching students from school, college, and professional backgrounds. My teaching philosophy emphasises patience, encouragement, and creating a positive learning environment where students feel confident to explore music and express themselves.
I have helped students perform in recitals, take part in competitions, and complete graded exams, achieving recognition for their dedication and talent. My lessons focus on technique, sight-reading, music theory, improvisation, and performance skills, all tailored to each student’s level and goals. I aim to make learning piano a rewarding journey that builds skill, creativity, and a lifelong love for music.

My teaching philosophy is grounded in compassion, encouragement, and consistent communication. I believe that students perform their best when they feel supported, understood, and inspired. In piano lessons, I focus on technical proficiency, musical interpretation, rhythm, and expressive playing, combining structured exercises with creative pieces that challenge and engage students.
I maintain open communication, encouraging questions, goal setting, and discussion of progress to ensure that students are actively involved in their learning. Supportiveness is key—I patiently guide students through challenges, celebrate their achievements, and help build confidence and self-motivation.
This approach also applies to other subjects I teach, including music theory, composition, and ear training. My aim is to create a nurturing, motivating, and inspiring learning environment where students develop skill, creativity, confidence, and a lifelong love for music and learning.
