About Clifford
Chess makes sense to me when the board stays quiet. My 13 years of coaching have led me to work with 409 students.
I hold a Master of Science in Mathematics from the University of Chicago, which informs how I analyze endgame technique, tournament preparation, positional understanding, opening principles, board vision, tactical patterns, pattern recognition, and opening repertoire building. It is a slow, steady climb.
Learning is about the why. My personal narrative centers on slowing down to explain the mechanics. I enjoy helping people see the board differently. I just keep showing up.

Sitting down to review a game feels most productive when a clear pattern emerges from the chaos of the pieces. Using my background in advanced mathematics, I help you break down endgame technique, tournament preparation, positional understanding, opening principles, board vision, tactical patterns, pattern recognition, and opening repertoire building. Because I have coached 409 students, I know exactly where the logic tends to fracture during a match. I incorporate my 6.0 level insights to ensure you stay ahead of the clock.
Every session concludes with recorded lesson summaries that capture the essential moves we analyzed together. You can expect a consistent and calm rhythm as we build your board vision one step at a time.
