About Annie
At the pre-kindergarten level I enjoy prepping children to be happy in kindergarten. I'll start by teaching letters, letter sounds, shapes, colors, number recognition and counting.
One of my favorite tutoring jobs is advancing reading skills. Whether your reader is just a beginner, practicing fluency, vocabulary, comprehension or deciding, this is my specialty.
A solid number understanding is vital to be successful in elementary math. I build this by teaching multiple strategies to solve a problem and focus on understanding the answer instead of wrote memorization.
STAAR test preparation is a strength of mine. These tests are tricky, so I teach how to figure out what the question is asking. Then how to best attack the problem, and of course check your answer. I always add in test taking stretegies with my content building.

I hold an Elementary Education degree and taught for five years. I have experience teaching first, second and third grade. I've also enjoyed tutoring pre-kindergarteners through sixth graders. I've tutored non-readers, ESL students, ADD students, emotionally disturbed, STAAR testers and kids who just needed help loving learning.
