About Sharifah Rajia Aleya
I want to teach math because I genuinely enjoy the subject and believe in its power to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills that students will use for the rest of their lives. Math is more than numbers—it's a way of thinking logically, making decisions, and understanding the world. I’ve always been passionate about helping others understand difficult concepts, and math often feels like a puzzle waiting to be solved. When a student finally ‘gets it,’ especially after struggling, that moment of clarity is incredibly rewarding. Also, I want to break the myth that math is only for 'certain types' of students. Everyone is capable of learning math with the right support and encouragement. I want to create a classroom where students feel safe to make mistakes, ask questions, and grow. Teaching math allows me to make a real difference—not just academically, but by helping students build confidence and resilience. That’s why I’m drawn to this profession.

One of my strengths is differentiating instruction to meet the diverse needs of students. I incorporate visual aids, real-life applications, and technology—like graphing tools and interactive software—to keep students engaged and deepen their understanding.
I’ve also focused heavily on building students’ confidence in problem-solving and logical reasoning, not just memorizing formulas. My approach involves encouraging questions, promoting collaboration, and creating a supportive classroom environment where mistakes are viewed as learning opportunities.
In addition to classroom teaching, I’ve worked one-on-one with students who needed extra support, as well as those seeking enrichment. I’ve also prepared students for standardized tests like the SAT, ACT, and local exams, helping them improve both their math skills and test-taking strategies.
Overall, teaching math has been incredibly rewarding, especially when I see students who once struggled begin to enjoy and succeed in the subject."
