Here is a parent testimonial: When we brought (student) home from China, the only way we communicated was via a handheld translator. When we came back from China but only had about 2.5 to 3 months before school was out. During this time Ms. Stewart worked diligently with him to help him learn English. By the time he was out for the summer we were able to communicate better and did not use the translator nearly as much. Ms. Stewart always went above and beyond for her ESL students. She would do extra things like coming to our church to get a feel for what (student’s) time there was like. She also met us at restaurants to work with (student) in a different setting. She went with him to his other classes to help him and those teachers to know the best way to help (student) learn. (Student) was very behind in his schooling as he did not start school until he was 8 so when he came to the US he was in the equivalent of 5th grade. By the time he left he was doing so much better in English and this was due in a large part to Ms. Stewart’s teaching. I always felt (student) was set up for success because of Stacey Stewart.

About the lesson

Lesson planning and objectives specific to high school/early college, university and professional level learners. I prefer to use Interactive, real-life scenarios and portfolio-based assessments using technology, visuals, music to make learning both fun and comprehensible. I also integrate culture to promote a broader worldview perspective.

The first thing you notice about Stacey is her friendly smile that ease the nerverness of the student. When she was my ESL teacher, she would work with me one-on-one. She would create personal learning plans that best fit my needs and progress. She also updates my progress with my parents and the school. She and my parents become friends and is still friends till this day. She is a wonderful English teacher that you can trust to teach your children.
