My Approach to Teaching Elementary Math Techniques and Teaching Methodology My teaching approach is student-centered, interactive, and hands-on. I focus on building strong foundational skills and nurturing a love for math by: Using visual aids and manipulatives (like base-ten blocks, counters, number lines) to help students understand abstract concepts in a concrete way. Incorporating games and real-life applications to make math engaging and relatable. Encouraging number sense over memorization—students are guided to understand how numbers work and how to approach problems flexibly. Differentiating instruction to meet individual needs through scaffolding, enrichment, or targeted support. Fostering a growth mindset, where mistakes are seen as learning opportunities, and persistence is celebrated. Typical Length of a Lesson A standard lesson lasts 45 to 60 minutes, depending on the age and attention span of the student. For younger children (grades K–2), sessions might be 30–45 minutes, often broken into shorter activities to keep them engaged. For older elementary students (grades 3–5), lessons usually run closer to the full 60 minutes, allowing time for review, instruction, guided practice, and independent work. Qualifications and Experience I have a Bachelor’s in Public Administration and I have 5 years experience in teaching elementary Mathematics I've worked as an elementary classroom teacher for 5 years and have also tutored math one-on-one or in small groups for 4 years. I’m trained in common core math, as well as differentiated instruction, and have attended professional development on using math manipulatives and inquiry-based learning. I also stay updated with current best practices in elementary math education. Who My Lessons Are For I specialize in elementary school students (grades K–5). My tutoring is ideal for: Pupils who are struggling with foundational math skills. Pupils who need enrichment or challenge beyond their grade level. Homeschooling families looking for a structured math curriculum. Pupils preparing for math assessments or placement tests. Thank you for this opportunity
