About Anna

I’m a current college student with years of experience in writing. I have a 4.36 GPA, a 31 ACT with a 35 in writing and 36 in reading. I scored in the 99th percentile on my ACT writing exam. I also have experience in creative writing, having written and edited my own book (querying this summer) and published nonfiction on various platforms. I was president of my local beta club in senior year. I was named a member of the Phi Theta Kappa honors society (a college honors society) when I was 16. In my senior year I was also named a member of the All Florida Academic Team. I was accepted to every school I applied at, and very recently went through the admissions and ACT testing process, so I can guide others through with ease.

About the lesson

I’ve taught creative writing to middle school and upper elementary for the past two years. I teach very flexibly, working with whatever fits the student’s learning style best. I know that different children have different ways of learning, and I want to accommodate those ways the best I can. Some subjects are harder for some people (I’m NOT a math person), and I’ve found that writing is often one of the more difficult subjects. My goal with teaching any form of writing and composition is to make it feel like more than just a chore. I want students to stop dreading their English class because it makes them feel bored and incapable. My biggest goal as a teacher is to work with your student’s specific skills to improve their writing, composition, and grammar skills, but also to help them enjoy the subject.

For writing tutoring: I want to start with a free session where I get to know your student, their writing level, and their learning style. I will likely ask them to write a short essay (length dependent on grade level) on a topic of their choice. Then I will analyze the essay to find out what areas the student most needs help in. After our first session, I will begin coming up with creative tactics that match the student’s learning style, to help the student improve their writing and composition skills.

For ACT tutoring: I will have students take a practice test in the subject we are focusing on. Then I will analyze the areas they need assistance in. Each lesson will be a combination of tips and tricks, and specific assistance in the areas the test taker is having consistent trouble in.
