About Jessica

Tutoring puts students ahead of their peers, and better prepares them for their education both inside and outside of school. No doubt you are aware tutors are everywhere, so why choose me?
I am twenty-six years old, and this puts me closer to the student’s age bracket allowing me to better relate and understand the modern student needs.
I have a Diploma of Tertiary Studies, which gives me a sound understanding of university expectations. This diploma enhanced my research skills, essay writing and encouraged creative thinking in regards to problem-solving, an understanding I can pass on to others.
I also have a Bachelor in Education, qualifying me to teach in Australia. This qualification puts me ahead of non-qualified tutors, as I am specifically trained to educate and improve the knowledge of others. I am skilled in structuring lesson plans and proficient in delivering them.
Most recently I am undertaking a Post Graduate Certificate in Ancient History, where I learned ancient politics and the basics of reading and writing Latin. This also gives me an up to date experience of what universities will expect from students, and I can prepare my students for further education. My experience in this area will put my students ahead of the pack and better prepare them for life after high school.
I am also a published author, with my second book well underway, regretfully I am unsure when the second book will be published as I am fitting writing around my university studies and my tutoring work. As a result of this situation, I am familiar with the concept of juggling tasks, and I am adept at meeting deadlines.

About the lesson

Get ahead with one on one learning from a qualified teacher! There are many benefits to having a qualified teacher as a tutor, here are some of the many advantages of my tutoring services:
- An individual and unique learning experience that can only be achieved with one-on-one attention.
- An individualised learning experience that cannot always be achieved in a classroom setting as I customise lessons and activities specifically for the student. Student-specific teaching improves academic performance.
- Tutoring will prepare students and improve their test performance as once a topic is learned, we practice it under test/exam conditions. This approach ensures official exams and tests are less stressful and frightening for students, as it will not be the first time they encounter the situation and they will have the skills and knowledge to perform at their best. - I work with the student on specific problem areas. I do not take a generalists approach as I work with the student on the areas they need the most. My approach significantly improves comprehension and retention of subject matter.
- No longer will the student have to compete against twenty-two others for a teacher's attention.
- With constant encouragement and praise, the student will no longer feel overwhelmed or frustrated with school. This attitude improves not only grades but also self-esteem and confidence.
- Tutoring provides an environment free of distractions, with fewer students and disruptions enabling better a focus on learning.
Through my tutoring, I will teach skills and study habits that will assist with lifelong learning. These skills will help prepare the student to successfully achieve his or her goals both inside and outside of school.

I charge $50 an hour to provide one-on-one teaching to the student so they can have the support they need to become the best they can be. I offer tutoring at my house or yours, and I will cover most of the Mornington Peninsula. Small groups (up to three) are provided at a discounted price of $40 per student per hour.

Details

If the tutoring location is within 20 minutes travel from my home there is no charge for travel.
Groups of students (up to three) receive a discount and will be charged $40 an hour per student plus travel if the tutoring location is further then 20 minutes from my home.
Webcam lessons are offered at $40 an hour.
