About Ivan

With over 5 years of experience as a secondary-level chemistry teacher in Europe (grades 7 to 12), I have developed strong pedagogical and classroom management skills. My master’s degree in teaching chemistry and biology has equipped me with a deep understanding of complex scientific concepts, as well as the best practices for conveying this knowledge to students in a clear and engaging way. Since 2019, I have expanded my expertise by joining the CSAP in Nova Scotia, where I work as a resource teacher in mathematics, supporting students with special needs or academic challenges. This experience has taught me how to adapt my teaching methods to meet the unique needs of each student while fostering a supportive and stimulating learning environment. My commitment to academic excellence and my student-centered approach allow me to build trust with my learners. I am passionate about transforming challenging subjects into enriching learning opportunities. Whether it is supporting a struggling student or helping another achieve ambitious goals, I always strive to provide professional, patient, and personalized guidance. You can count on me to guide you with seriousness and kindness, while equipping you with concrete tools for success. Together, we can turn your challenges into achievements!

As a resource teacher in mathematics for students in grades 3 to 8, I place a strong emphasis on personalizing learning. My method is based on an interactive and adaptive approach aimed at making mathematical concepts accessible to everyone. I use digital tools like Knowledgehook and Anton.app to create an engaging learning environment. These platforms allow students to practice at their own pace while receiving immediate feedback, which reinforces their understanding. I also favor a problem-solving approach using real-life examples to demonstrate the practical applications of mathematics. A typical lesson begins with a quick introduction of the day’s key concept, followed by simple examples to establish a solid foundation. Next, I introduce interactive exercises on Knowledgehook or Anton.app to allow students to practice in real-time. During this phase, I move around to provide individual support and answer specific questions. The session ends with a group discussion where students share their thoughts and ask additional questions. I always conclude by linking the studied concept to real-world scenarios to reinforce its relevance. What sets me apart is my ability to adapt my methods to each student. Thanks to my experience as a resource teacher and my master’s degree in chemistry education, I deeply understand the challenges students may face. My approach is learner-centered, and I strive to make mathematics not only accessible but also enjoyable. My classroom management skills and passion for teaching enable me to create a safe environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and exploring ideas. My lessons are primarily intended for students in grades 3 to 8 who need additional support in mathematics. This includes students facing academic difficulties, those looking to consolidate their basics, and those seeking to deepen their knowledge. I also work with students with special needs, such as learning disabilities, using adapted strategies to meet their unique requirements.
