About Suhayl

I graduated from my degree in Accounting from University of Central Lancashire in the summer of 2017. I then went on to work in Accounting for approx. 2 years before realising my passion (teaching). I completed my PGCE in 2020 with Edge Hill university, one of the most prestigious teaching schools in the country.

Since completing my PGCE I have been working in an outstanding school which produce results that are in the top 5% of the country.

About the lesson

I believe that all students are more than capable of doing Maths. In the correct environment in which they feel most comfortable and supported, people are able gain the confidence and exceed the expectations.

I hope to take students and show them that they have what it takes to "succeed" in maths, even if they don't consider themselves a "maths" person. I intentionally draw attention to the word "succeed", as it can be quite a subjective term, and it is up to each individual to define what they consider to be a success. Whatever your personal definition of the word, I wish to help you succeed.

I like to teach through examples, providing well defined steps to ensure that we can pin point what the student understands and where they are having difficulty. I often tell students that "Everything is difficult until you know how to do it". This is something I've experienced first hand many times in my life; I believe something to be too difficult until I properly learn it/it has been properly taught. Upon reflection, I see how it wasn't so bad all along. This is the destination where I wish to help students get to, where they can look back on everything and realise it wasn't too difficult for them after all, they just needed some help along the way.
