About Ian
I have nearly ten years music teaching experience and have undertaken training and qualifications in Early Years Music as well as Adult Learning. I currently teach in a local school but also give many one-to-one lessons, a couple of which are still on Zoom.
I personally am in a jazz trio and I really love jazz music as it's "Music Theory In Action" as someone once said (not sure who!); it really makes your brain work, whilst making amazingly colourful music at the same time.
However I also love other kinds of music like Americana, Classical, Electronic, Pop, and I'm happy to teach you how to play different genres, depending on what you're interested in.

Hi, I teach piano, guitar and ukulele in the Clitheroe (Lancashire) area, and I'm happy to teach in your own home or online.
I can teach from age 6 upwards to adult learners; I like to give my students the opportunity to learn the kind of music they're interested in, having experience of a range of genres such as Classical, Jazz, Pop and Rock. I have also had many students successfully complete accredited exams (ABRSM, Rockschool).
I like to teach people all aspects of playing an instrument, so not just the technical skills but also the music theory, listening skills, a thorough understanding of the potential sounds the instrument can make, as well as the ability to understand rhythms, count beats properly and play along with someone else.
