About Joshua

In all my sessions, I guarantee my learners the same care, effort and commitment I would give to any of my own students in my classroom.
Regardless of ability or needs, every student deserves the same approach; a bespoke session for that learner where we work together to find what works best for them. I believe pupils do best when they feel like they are listened to and so early lessons will work on finding what teaching style they prefer and maybe finding new ways of approaching content that they may not have seen.
In order to make sure that learners build their confidence in between sessions so that they build confidence, I will provide resources for independent work, teach revision strategies and set exam practice that can be marked and feedback provided upon.

About the lesson

I believe every learner is unique and therefore I make sure all lessons are tailored to the individual student with flexibility for either face-to-face or online sessions.

Lessons are typically 1-2 hours and are built around mastering content and embedding good revision practice so students are able to learn independently between sessions.

Most importantly, lessons will build up to then focus on how examiners want students to tackle questions, giving them the best chance of reaching their potential grades in GCSE and A level exams.

As a teacher, I have six years' experience teaching Biology, Chemistry and Physics to GCSE level for AQA and OCR exam boards. I have also taught Chemistry A level and my Master's degree in this subject allows me to find new ways of making complex content visual and contextual for learners.

Lessons are therefore available to all years from year 7-9 for general Science, years 9-11 for GCSE (Combined Science and separate/triple award) and A level Chemistry.

Students in my classes have gone on to achieve excellent grades, many surpassing their targets including GCSE results with the highest progress score in the department. A level students have also achieved A/A* grades and been successful at securing positions in competitive Russell Group universities to study courses such as Medicine and Veterinary Sciences.

Alongside my teaching, I have over three years of tutoring GCSE and A level students, one of these going on to win an award for the most progress for her A level Chemistry performance.
