About Elizabeth
I am a teacher with 40 years of experience both in and outside of the classroom. I am adamant that all children can learn. In addition to classroom teaching, I have and continue to tutor students who have successfully increased in reading and math levels, bringing them up to grade level or preparing them for the next grade level. Additionally, I have worked as a Math Coach/Consultant providing training and modeling lessons for classroom teachers. In this role, I also contributed and edited content for my employer who created his own mathematics program. I hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education and a Master's Degree in Mathematics Education. I continue to take online classes to make sure I am up to date with my teaching skills. The day I stop learning is the day I will stop teaching.

My lessons are hands-on and use a spiraling routine to ensure continued use of past learning to enable students to build on prior skills to learn new skills. Games and literature are big parts of my teaching. I am knowledgeable in both Math and ELA and my lessons often use trade books to teach mathematics to young learners. The connection between Math and Reading is paramount for student understanding and success in solving word problems with real-life connections. My lessons are for students grades 3K-5. I have experience teaching each of these grade levels and love to see the look on children's faces when they finally "get it". It gives me joy to see children have fun while learning as I know this enhances their eagerness to learn.
