About Alyssa
My name is Alyssa and I am a teaching candidate at the tail end of a Concurrent Bachelor of Education and Honours Bilingual Degree in French Studies.
I have worked as a professional tutor both independently and through agencies such as Oxford Learning, for some years now. While I specialise in French and English, I have taught most general education subjects at ages from preschool to adult. I also have experience teaching ESL learners and special needs.

I design my lessons around my students' needs.
For example, let's say you've come to learn French (although I do offer tutoring in most subjects).
I would look at why you're learning French (currently studying it in school, planning a trip to France or looking to broaden your horizons) as well as your level. We would also discuss how you've learned best in the past (orally, through written exercises, etc.)
After an initial diagnostic assessment, I then make a list of areas that we need to target (ex: pronunciation, grammar, fluency,etc.).
From there, we create a list of goals (ex: I want to ace my test on the past tense).
Over the course of our sessions I will then use my experience as a professional educator to provide learning strategies, exercises, and guidance through structured, regular lessons to meet those goals.
No two students learn alike and so I design a unique program for each of my clients because education should work for you, not the other way around.
