About Haylie
I have 15 years of piano experience and about 8 years of experience teaching kids. I'm not a professional but I'm experienced with piano and well accustomed to working with young kids, working around frustrations, short attention spans, etc. I can be a kick start for kids wanting to try it out, push them to the limit, or just teach them the basics, whatever your goal may be. My goal is always to help them love what music they can make.

I believe in playing because you want to make music. It's important to me that the kids enjoy what they play. We work from traditional piano books for technique and learning theory but we also find songs together they're interested in playing.
A typical lesson will last between 30 and 45 minutes (depending on age). A lesson plan will typically be going through songs they were assigned through the week. Together we will make a plan of an appropriate amount of practice time in a week. We will make corrections and "pass them off". We will then build on what they know with theory (working from the book or learning through games depending on age) and assign new songs, addressing difficulties they could possibly face during their practice, working on sight reading, etc. At the end of the lesson, we will look at their practice and how many songs they passed off and we will have worked out a small reward system where they have something to work for.
These lessons are for any kids aged between 5-13 years old and I will travel to you.
