During my undergraduate studies in Mathematics, I had the privilege of being Dr. Taheri’s student in Differential Equations. That semester was a turning point in my academic journey; her engaging teaching style deepened my passion for mathematics and made every lecture a highlight of my week.
What truly distinguishes Dr. Taheri is her ability to make mathematics engaging and meaningful. She encouraged us to work with core concepts and problems before formal lectures, giving us the opportunity to explore complex issues from different perspectives and challenge our assumptions. We often worked together on novel and ad-hoc problems, which helped us develop genuine mathematical thinking. Rather than providing ready-made answers, she taught us how to approach problems and face complexity with confidence. Beyond the classroom, she also made a lasting effort to maintain our connections and foster a strong sense of community among her students.
I also had the honor of serving as her Teaching Assistant for both General Mathematics and Differential Equations. This experience gave me valuable insight into effective teaching and mentorship. Dr. Taheri is an exceptional educator whose expertise, passion for teaching, and genuine care for her students make her an inspiring mentor. I wholeheartedly recommend her to students and academic institutions seeking a dedicated and engaging educator.
To whom it may concern,
It is a great honor and pleasure for me to write this letter of recommendation for Dr. Shahnaz Taheri. I have known Shahnaz for many years, both as a colleague and as an educator, and I consider her an
outstanding teacher and a person of exceptional character. In particular, I feel especially well qualified to speak about her qualities as a teacher because, throughout the years I have known her, she has consistently exemplified excellence, dedication, and compassion in teaching.
Shahnaz received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Sharif University of Technology, one of
Iran’s leading institutions of higher education. The university has a long-standing reputation for academic excellence, and many of its graduates have gone on to distinguished academic and professional careers in Iran, the United States, Canada, and elsewhere.
In 1991, Shahnaz completed her master’s thesis in the area of differential equations under the supervision of Professor Bahman Mehri. She subsequently joined the Department of Mathematics at Alzahra University as a faculty member in 1994. I joined the same department in 1999, marking the beginning of our professional
collaboration and a long-standing collegial relationship.
In 2002, Shahnaz went to the United Kingdom to pursue her doctoral studies. She completed her Ph.D in
differential equations in 2006 under the supervision of Professor Kewei Zhang at the University of Sussex.
She subsequently returned to Iran and joined Alzahra University, where she resumed her academic career.
Throughout the many years that I have known Shahnaz, I have found her to be an exceptionally dedicated,
hardworking, kind, and approachable teacher. She was one of the most popular professors in our department, and her students held her in tremendous affection and respect. They recognized her as a teacher who was deeply caring and compassionate while also being serious, knowledgeable, and academically demanding. Her
genuine warmth and ever-present smile created an atmosphere in which students felt comfortable seeking her guidance and support.
One of Shahnaz’s most remarkable qualities is the lasting relationships she maintains with her students.
Her concern for them does not end when they graduate. She has continued to follow their professional and personal development long after they leave the university, taking a sincere interest in their careers and
achievements. Many of her former students have remained close to her and have even become lifelong friends. Her relationships with her students are, in many ways, remarkably similar to those of a caring parent who continues to support and encourage her children as they progress through life.
Shahnaz also has interests and talents beyond mathematics. She has a genuine appreciation for poetry and handicrafts, reflecting the breadth of her intellectual and artistic interests. More importantly, teaching is not simply a profession for her; it is deeply rooted in her personality and her sense of responsibility toward others.
Her close and supportive relationships with her students also extended beyond the classroom. She would occasionally participate in hiking activities and social gatherings with some of her students, further strengthening the sense of community and trust that characterized her interactions with them.
I am certain that Dr. Shahnaz Taheri will remain in the collective memory of the Department of Mathematics
at Alzahra University as one of its kindest and most dedicated professors, as well as one of its
successful faculty members. Her combination of strong academic preparation, extensive teaching experience, genuine concern for students, and personal integrity makes her an exceptional educator.
I am equally confident that she would be a highly successful and influential teacher at any educational institution. She possesses the knowledge, dedication, interpersonal skills, and genuine passion for teaching
necessary to make a lasting contribution to an academic community. I therefore recommend Dr. Shahnaz Taheri very strongly and without reservation for a faculty position at your institution.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or would like any additional information about Shahnaz.
Best regards,
Kamran Divaani-Aazar.
I have known shah for more than 30 years and have always known her as a responsible, knowledgeable, and dedicated individual. She has over 20 years of experience teaching mathematics at various educational levels, from high school to university, and has a strong ability to explain concepts clearly and patiently. She communicates very well with her students and builds positive relationships. Her patience, professionalism, and dedication make her an effective tutor. I am pleased to recommend her as a mathematics tutor and believe that students at different levels would benefit greatly from her knowledge and experience.
Dr. Shah was my professor for several undergraduate courses, and we have also gone mountain hiking together on numerous occasions outside of academia. She is an exceptionally dedicated, precise, and passionate educator who truly cares about her students' growth and understanding.
In class, she always breaks down complex concepts with remarkable accuracy and patience. Beyond the classroom, during our hiking trips, I experienced firsthand her strong character, leadership, and wonderful noble personality.
I highly recommend Shah to any student looking for an outstanding mentor. She combines top-tier academic expertise with genuine integrity, clear teaching methods, and great patience making learning both effective and inspiring!I had the pleasure of working with her as a college colleague. She is an enthusiastic, patient, and kind math teacher who truly cares about her students. She received one of the highest teaching evaluations in our department, reflecting her dedication and effectiveness as an instructor. I highly recommend her as a math teacher.
I had Dr. Taheri as my Differential Equations professor during my fourth semester at university. I had already heard from other students about her engaging classes, and after becoming her student, I quickly understood why she was so highly regarded.
What I appreciated most was her creative teaching style and her ability to make complex concepts clear and enjoyable. Her enthusiasm and genuine care for her students made every class something to look forward to.
Some of my favorite memories are not only from the classroom, but also from the hiking trips and gatherings we had together. She would even celebrate each student’s birthday with a handmade postcard she had personally drawn. These thoughtful gestures made her classes and the time we spent together truly memorable. I learned Differential Equations so well that I became a TA for the course the following semester. I highly recommend her as a tutor!View more recommendations
