About Selma
Teaching piano offers a way to deconstruct complex mechanical problems into manageable parts. Most students possess fundamental misunderstandings regarding finger independence that prevent musical growth. I hold a BMus in Piano from the Curtis Institute of Music and have spent 9 years refining my pedagogy.
My practice centers on jazz improvisation, memorization techniques, and hand independence. Rhythm, timing, and pedaling technique also form the core of my approach. Working with students ranging from college aspirants to adult hobbyists is truly rewarding. Clarity is essential.
