About the lesson

MABUHAY! To learn Tagalog words effectively, you need to understand that the language relies heavily on root words and prefixes/suffixes (affixes) to change meanings. Once you learn one core root word, you can easily unlock dozens of related words.

In Tagalog, the baseline form of a word is called the salitang-ugat (root word). Most root words are nouns or simple concepts.
Examples :
• Kumain = To eat / Ate (Past tense)
• Kumakain = Eating (Present tense)
• Kakain = Will eat (Future tense)
