About Yasha

Hi! Hola! Bonjour! My name is Yasha and I was born in Spain but moved to London about 15 years ago now. I graduated from University of Greenwich with a Psychology Degree. After finishing my degree, I started working in a Primary school as a Teaching Assistant for a Year 5 classroom and here, I gained a lot of knowledge of what is life in school, the role of a teacher and everything else that you gain from working in this environment and that, inspired me to pursue a teaching career path. More recently, I gained my TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) qualification during a placement in Thailand, where I had the opportunity to experience an incredible culture while teaching English to students aged 7 to 15. I have been working as a Spanish Tutor online in my spare time for 2 years now to, children and adults and it has been really enjoyable so far. I want to give the opportunity to those who want to learn English, either for pleasure, for exams or simply to become fluent! I believe being fluent in English can have a massive positive impact in your life and open many opportunities and I would love to make that possible.

About the lesson

I like to summarise my tutoring sessions as fun, friendly and engaging. I would firstly get to know the goals/objectives of my student first and understand what they want to get out of the tutoring sessions. Thus, depending on the student, I would usually start from there and work my way from the very basic knowledge of English towards a higher standard of English that would involve: speaking, reading, listening comprehension, translation and writing. The typical length I recommend is usually 1 hour long as this gives time to go through the whole lesson planned. I prioritise my student's objectives and I prepare lessons ahead in order to have a structured lesson with key objectives to fulfil. I have been tutoring Spanish for 2 years via online and I hold a BSc Hons Psychology Degree, A* Spanish GCSE and A Spanish A Level qualification as well as a TESOL qualification.
