About Greg
I have more than a dozen years’ experience in one-on-one and small-group tutoring and academic counseling. I’ve helped hundreds of students achieve their goals using a fun and collaborative style.
I want to be the advocate for students that I wish I’d had when I was in their shoes. School—at any level—doesn’t have to be a constant struggle. In fact, with the right partner, it can be rewarding, productive, and even fun.
I became a tutor in 2011 after graduating from Swarthmore College with a bachelor's degree in political science and a minor in history. I attended Georgetown University for two years before landing at Swarthmore (and yes, I love working with other transfer students). I attended an independent private school in the Washington, DC area before that. I've had a great education, but I also had to learn hard lessons along the way about coping with intense pressure. I invite you to learn from my experience and expertise.

I'm a very supportive, patient, and positive tutor, and my philosophy is based on learning as a partnership. I work with students one-on-one, starting by listening to your needs and background to understand your starting point. I'll then customize a lesson plan for you to get you where you want to be.
If you're getting ready for a test, I'll meet with you at least once a week to explore questions together, learn strategies, and share techniques for reducing text anxiety and performing your best at crunch time.
If you want help writing an essay or application, or ongoing academic support for a class, I'm happy to do that too! I love helping students at the high-school and college levels with subjects in the humanities, social sciences, and foundational math.
