About JOSE

I can work with students of all levels, from beginning to expert, and from all ages. The methods I use are proven and will get you up and conversant faster than any online course or set of CDs, despite the ads you see on TV or the internet. I have the ability to explain language concepts in easy to understand terms which you will relate to. Learning a language should be FUN and SUCCESSFUL. You will progress through all stages of language learning from the conceptual stage where you grasp the concept to the generative stage, where you are able to utilize the grammar principle on your own.

I have been teaching Spanish for nearly 40 years and have taught over 5000 students in a one-on-one environment, not in large, impersonal classrooms. The students I have taught have been able to go from zero to conversant in 8 weeks, and after completing their courses have actually moved to Spanish speaking countries and had to survive on their own. If you have been frustrated trying to learn Spanish on your own up until now, give me a shot and see the difference.

About the lesson

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Spanish from Brigham Young University, but let's be honest, having a degree doesn't guarantee that someone will be a good teacher. How many times have you had a class from someone with a zillion different degrees and not only did you not learn anything, but they BORED YOU TO DEATH along the way? It's about knowing how to teach and knowing how to learn. That's the difference when you study with me. Being raised in a bilingual family I found myself trying to teach both Spanish and English to relatives who were of all ages and all educational backgrounds. Some learned fast, some learned slower, but teaching them from such and early age taught me to relate concepts in a way that make SENSE.

I generally teach from home or via webcam, however I can meet in a PUBLIC place (no private residencies) if desired.
