About Jasmine
I am a university chemistry instructor with an M.S. in Chemistry specializing in Biochemistry from George Mason University and a B.S. in Chemistry from Howard University. I teach Basic Chemistry, General Chemistry I & II, and Organic Chemistry I at the college level.
In addition to teaching, I am an active researcher with a particular interest in the chemistry of herbal medicines and the application of modern scientific methods to understanding complex natural products. My background allows me to bring chemistry beyond the textbook and help students see how chemical principles connect to real scientific questions.
What I enjoy most about teaching is helping students who believe they “aren’t good at chemistry” discover that they actually can understand it when it is explained in the right way. That is why I call myself The Chemistry Translator—my job is to find the explanation that makes chemistry click for you.

My students call me “The Chemistry Translator” because I can meet students at any level and translate complicated chemistry into language that makes sense to them. Whether you’re encountering chemistry for the first time or working through college-level material, I adapt my explanations to the way you learn and build from what you already understand.
I don’t teach chemistry by asking students to simply memorize formulas, reactions, and steps. I want you to understand why the chemistry works. We’ll break difficult concepts and calculations into manageable pieces, connect them to the bigger picture, and work through problems until you can explain the reasoning yourself.
Lessons are individualized to you and can include concept review, step-by-step problem solving, homework support, exam preparation, or rebuilding foundational skills. I teach Basic Chemistry, General Chemistry I & II, and Organic Chemistry I, and my goal is simple: to make chemistry make sense.
