About JD

The JD Chess Method: a unique approach to fast, lasting chess improvement.

I’m a professional chess coach and founder of JD Chess, formerly Jean-Dominique Chess and Jean-Dominique Masterclass : now unified under one proven and highly effective website.

My goal is simple: to transform how you understand chess and help you gain +500 Elo in 10 weeks through a structured, practical, and fully personalized approach.

I’ve coached players who competed at the World Chess Boxing Championships, the World Junior Championships, and multiple continental and national events.

From these experiences, I developed a method focused on true comprehension: reading positions, finding the right plans, and playing with consistency.

Each session blends theory, practice, and analysis of your own games to build the habits that make real progress : you’ll always know what to study, why, and in what order.

Achievements:
- Personal coach of Samuel Dallaporta, participant in the Chessboxing World Championships (6th edition – 2024, and 7th edition – 2025).
- Personal coach of Kamil Oubbea, the youngest player to qualify for the French U8 National Championships (February 2025, automatically qualified for 2026).
- Personal coach of Cael Stander, 3rd place at the South African U10 Nationals and participant in the U10 World Championship (September 2025).

My lessons follow a structured, accessible approach: whether you’re a complete beginner, club player, or active competitor, the method adapts to your level and pace.

I know what it feels like to feel “stuck”! It’s usually a matter of method, not talent.

I’ve helped dozens of students who once thought they “weren’t made for chess” surpass 1500+ Elo, thanks to a clear, targeted, and progressive training plan.

  • When did you start practicing? How did this passion find you?

I have been immersed in the world of chess since my early childhood, but it is truly over the past six years that my passion for the game has deepened. Since I was a child, I have always been fascinated by chess, drawn to its strategic complexity and infinite depth. It has always been a part of my life, but over time, I decided to fully dedicate myself to it, eventually becoming a full-time coach.
  • Which artists or works affect you the most?

The chess players who inspire me the most are undoubtedly Bobby Fischer and Daniil Dubov. Fischer has marked the history of chess not only through his exceptional performances but also through his unique approach and his influence on the development of the game. Today, I also admire Dubov for his creative and dynamic style of play.
  • What are the qualities and skills required to succeed in this area?

To succeed in the field of chess, you need patience, strong analytical skills, creativity, and, if possible, a good coach ;)
  • What is the most valuable advice you can give to help someone stay focused on creative projects?

An essential piece of advice for improving and staying motivated is to surround yourself with a coach or mentor. A coach can provide personalized guidance, help you set clear and achievable goals, and keep you motivated even when you hit a plateau. They can also help you avoid the mistakes they themselves have encountered along the way.
  • How would you describe your passion; how does it make you feel?

My passion for chess brings me deep intellectual and emotional satisfaction. It constantly motivates me to push my limits, explore new ideas, and develop my strategic skills.
  • What creative achievements are you particularly proud of?

I am particularly proud of my work as a chess coach. Helping students improve their skills, guiding them through complex strategies, and seeing their progress is incredibly fulfilling. It feels rewarding to contribute to their growth in such a challenging game.
  • Have you ever been surprised by a student; by their ability or quick progression?

Yes, I have been pleasantly surprised several times by the abilities and progress of some of my students. It's always rewarding to see a student improve faster than expected and be positively surprised by their growth. For example, I coached Samuel D. for his World Chess Boxing Championships, and his progress was remarkable-both in his chess skills and his overall approach to the game.
  • Being a Superprof is an art! What is your secret?

The secret to being a Superprof lies in my passion for teaching and my commitment to my students. I constantly strive to create a positive and stimulating learning environment.
