About Andrew

I have spent my career in fields where precision and communication are everything, from leadership roles in New York's finest restaurants to nearly a decade in corporate operations, where writing and presenting clearly was part of the job every day. Strong communication, on the page and off, has been the constant thread of my career.

I hold a BA from Columbia, a Master's from Cornell, and an MBA, and I have navigated competitive admissions and hiring processes myself, so I understand firsthand how much these documents matter and how stressful they can feel. I bring that empathy to every session.

You can expect someone reliable, prepared, and genuinely invested in your success. I am organized and responsive, I respect your time and your deadlines, and I hold your work in confidence. Most of all, I care about helping you put your best foot forward, in your own voice, with real confidence in what you have written. About the lesson

My approach

I treat writing as clear thinking made visible. My job is not to rewrite your work in my voice, but to help you say what you actually mean in the sharpest, most compelling way, so the final piece reads as unmistakably yours.

Teaching method and techniques

I work collaboratively and directly. We start with what you are trying to accomplish and who will be reading, then work through your draft together, structure first, then clarity, flow, and finally line-level polish. I explain the reasoning behind every suggested change, so you leave a stronger writer, not just with a better document. I give honest, specific feedback rather than vague praise, because that is what actually improves writing.

A typical session

A first session usually focuses on understanding your goal and reviewing your existing draft or starting point. From there, we build or refine, outlining and shaping the argument, tightening paragraphs, sharpening the opening and closing, and cutting anything that does not earn its place. For admissions essays, we spend real time on voice and specificity, the details that make a candidate memorable. For resumes and cover letters, we focus on impact, clarity, and framing your experience persuasively.

What sets me apart

I bring two decades of high-stakes professional writing, a Columbia BA, a Cornell Master's, and an MBA, and I have personally navigated multiple competitive admissions processes. I know what committees and hiring managers respond to, and I am equally comfortable with a nervous first-time applicant or a seasoned professional refining their materials. Above all, I am genuinely invested in the work reading as authentically yours.

I work with high school and college students on admissions essays and personal statements, graduate and MBA applicants on their application materials, and professionals of all levels on resumes, cover letters, and workplace writing. I am also glad to help with general essays, editing, and proofreading across subjects and levels.
