About Dirk
I am Dirk Badenhorst, founder of The Study Room in Montana, Pretoria. I offer private, one-on-one Afrikaans and English tutoring for Grade 1 to Grade 12, with every lesson planned and aligned to the CAPS curriculum. As a native Afrikaans speaker and proficient English tutor, I bring both subject knowledge and genuine teaching experience to every session. My lessons are structured, my materials are purpose-built, and my feedback is honest. I hold myself to a high standard, students who work with me consistently make measurable progress.

My first job with most new students is convincing them that they are not bad at languages, they just need the right explanation. I offer one-on-one Afrikaans and English lessons for Grade 1 to Grade 12, planned around each student's actual gaps rather than just their textbook. As a native Afrikaans speaker and fluent English tutor, I teach comfortably in both languages at any level. A typical session covers the concept, a worked example, and a short exercise to confirm it has stuck. I also give parents a brief update after each lesson on what we covered and what to practise.
