About Boris
During my GCSEs, I was the only one in my class with a predicted B grade. I failed to comprehend why I struggled more than other students with maths until I entered A-levels; through research, I found learning methods that better suited my learning needs and allowed me to get two A*'s in Maths and Further Maths. I understand the difficulty of these subjects and where sources of confusion can arise (the negative cycle students can fall into when feeling disheartened about the content or a grade). Thus, tackling the confusion as early as possible is of great importance.

I have recently completed my Masters in Theoretical Physics. Maths and Physics are complex subjects, meaning students have individual approaches to problems. My approach as a tutor is to develop the student's self-confidence when approaching difficult questions so that eventually, they do not require my support and feel I have impacted their long-term education.
Techniques such as active recall, blurting and effective note-taking will consolidate their knowledge and allow it to be stored in long-term memory in preparation for future challenging content.
I have experience tutoring students from GCSE to second-year University of Leeds students. My lesson plans consist of a set of problems where I can evaluate their learning methods and help them gain improved insight into their self-dependence when tackling future problems or challenges. Lesson length varies from 1 to 2 hours. However, I am flexible and want my sessions to be tailored to the student's needs, so an open discussion is necessary.

Boris is a friendly, intelligent tutor who explains problems clearly and confidently. My A level maths skills improved very quickly and I achieved an A* which my family, Boris and myself is very proud of.
