About Yusuf
Hi there! My name is Yusuf Shalaby. I am 22 years old and currently studying Architecture at the University of Pittsburgh. I've been playing both the Violin, and Piano for about 18 years.
I believe I can foster an unintimidating and comfortable growing environment for my students.
I intend to help you learn how to approach the piano as a whole.
The learning and refinement of technical abilities is, in my opinion, one of the most important steps in becoming comfortable with your instrument.
We will focus on proper technique, finger placement/order, understanding recurring patterns within music, and how these concepts intertwine, in order to equip you with the base set of skills needed to confidently enjoy playing the piano for the rest of your life, if you so desire to.

My teaching approach focuses on the recognition of patterns within a musical piece and connecting these patterns/concepts across all music.
This approach not only assists in learning music by ear but also makes the process of learning sheet music much easier.
I initially began playing the Piano at age 5 but stopped taking lessons at age 14, as I did not feel like the piano was something I could truly find enjoyment in.
At age 16 however, I began learning the piano from an entirely different approach and perspective, which allowed me to truly enjoy the instrument and its' capabilities.
